Pre lockdown I was lucky to enjoy the intimate Wanaka wedding of Madelyn and Jefferson. These awesome people combined with the South Island mountains provided for some serious eye candy. I can't believe some photographers have this kind of scenery on their doorstep year round (i envy you!)!
This intimate wedding was filled with big emotions, as Madelyn had to come to terms with the fact that her big family from Canada couldn't be present. There was happiness for marrying the love of her life Jefferson, but sadness not being able to share her joy with her close family.
To overcome some of the difficulties with the absence of Madelyns family, they had come up with some clever ideas to include them as much as possible. There was live streaming, and speeches that had everyone in tears. After the ceremony the guests were able to say hello and introduce themselves on camera. We also took family photos involving an Ipad! Which I thought worked really well.
Their intimate ceremony took place at The Lookout Lodge. A beautiful Wanaka wedding venue, with alpine settings and stunning views across the ranges. After the ceremony we drove in an old timer from Wanaka to Queenstown, and took photos at Skippers Road with incredible views of the snowcapped mountains. I loved the energy between Madelyn and Jefferson, so natural and in love, and being around them felt like I had known them my entire life.
Places like these leave me inspired and motivated to go back to the mountains more, and I can't wait to capture more beautiful wedding stories down south this year. Thanks so much beautiful Madelyn and Jefferson, for allowing me to capture your beautiful day. I couldn't wish for more.
