Raglan Beach is the perfect setting for a Raglan family photography session. The beach truly has a magical backdrop for capturing family moments, and it was an absolute joy to photograph Emily’s lovely family there. Emily reached out to me for a session in late autumn, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph her adorable little ones amidst the stunning beauty of Raglan Beach.
Emily and her family were eager to document the essence of their close-knit unit at one of my favourite locations. There’s something incredibly beautiful about the way Raglan Beach transforms during the golden hour. The interplay of soft pinks, earthy browns, shimmering golds, lush greens, and serene blues seizes to amaze me. Each visit to this beach feels like a new experience, with its ever-changing light and colors offering a fresh canvas.
For this particular shoot, we hit the jackpot with the weather. While I always have a soft spot for clear, sunny days over cloudy or windy ones (especially when working with little ones), the clouds on this day actually enhanced the portraits by softening the light. Occasional bursts of sunlight added a warm, golden glow that beautifully highlighted the family’s interactions. Emily’s two little ones were pure joy to photograph as they played and explored the dunes, creating a series of candid and heartwarming moments that I’m so pleased to have captured.
