I met Danny and Jean for the first time when we went for a windy walk on the Raglan Beach talking about what ideas they had for their wedding. They had been to Raglan a few times together and had fallen in love with the place, and they wanted to bring all their friends and family over to show them what it was they loved so much.
Their day started with both of them getting ready at seperate locations, having the most relaxed time hanging with friends, singing and laughing, drinking and having an overall great time. Their ceremony location was set up on the edge of the popular surfing spot Whale Bay, between native New Zealand bush and views stretching north over rolling hills. Bridget of The White Wedding Club and the ladies of The Raglan Flower Buds had thrown their magic around creating a beautiful flower arch and with that, the picture was complete.
After the ceremony we spend a little time together with the Bridal Party hanging out at the Wainui Bush Reserve, one of Raglan’s native forests before heading to the Raglan Town Hall. Friends and family had done a great job transforming the otherwise bare hall into this beautiful warm place. Long tables, with Danny and Jean sitting right between the guest. The speeches their friends and family delivered were heartwarming and emotional, leaving me with the impression they have made some great connections with their nearest and dearest.
Then there was a sunset! And of course Danny and Jean were on top of the hill making the most of that first dipping sun of a married life together.
I cannot thank Danny and Jean enough for giving me the opportunity to photograph their wedding and letting me have a little peak into their beautiful life together. Also, it is so much appreciated for working with so many local wedding vendors who I can call my friends, for giving us the opportunity to make a working life in a small town possible.
