When my dear friends Julie and Andrew (Bish) asked me the huge honour to document their wedding day I was so excited to be able to be up close to their huge celebration. I met them next door to my old house a few years back when I had just immigrated to New Zealand. They turned out to be the best neighbours a girl could wish for, always keen for a coffee, surf, swim or BBQ. I learned that Bish is the most passionate surfer, starting most days with a surf when most people consider the day still night. So it was only logical they picked Solscape as their wedding venue, with it’s grand views overlooking the stunning Ngaranui Beach. Bish had mentioned to Julie there’s 1 weather system you don’t want to have on your wedding day. A combination of rain and Northwesterlies don’t go well together at Solscape, but that hardly ever happens in April so there was no worry…
But the weather gods had different plans for us. Not letting the weather get into their way of an epic wedding, Bish and Julie decided to marry out in the open anyway. It’s cliche but in my opinion it’s true – it all added to the fun and happiness on their big day. For the wedding photos we ventured out to a few different locations, the top of Ngarunui Beach being an absolute favourite. We got blasted by the rain at the most exposed spot possible but it all did not matter, we were having so much fun.
It was such a happy day, the perfect beginning of this new chapter in their lives. I wish them all the happiness in the world.
