There's times when you photograph a wedding and you feel like the couple getting married could be you. Rowan and Lisa love the beach and when they first contacted me they wanted to get married in Raglan. Rowan spends lots of his time surfing, and when the venue options in Raglan didn't quite work out, they decided that Piha was the perfect place for them. They had rented two funky baches right next door to each other, one with a big lawn perfect for a marquee. While Lisa was having her hair and make-up done Rowan was still out surfing, and the conditions were super nice. It was like the day was setting itself up to be perfect. Rowan and Lisa made most of their decorations themselves, from the handpicked flowers, to the driftwood arch, to the table decor. Rowan and Lisa got married under the huge cliffs of Piha, with their feet in the sand, just like it should be. The photo opportunities were just endless, and because their marquee was bordering the dunes we were able to take multiple breaks. They had rented a cool little caravan one little wagon that really suited the location. This wedding was a bit of a photographer dream, and I feel super grateful to have been their wedding photographer. Everything was just perfect (well almost everything, I could have brought my board for an evening surf!).
